Unplug the HD-3000 before cleaning. Its manual’s hook-race procedure uses a lint brush and a soft dry cloth after removing the needle plate, bobbin and holder.
This procedure is for the HD-3000. Use another machine’s own manual before removing its plate or bobbin holder.
Remove the parts in the manual’s order
With the machine unplugged, remove the presser foot and needle, then the needle-plate screw and plate. Take out the bobbin and lift out the holder. Keep the small screw safely away from the opening.
Brush away lint
Clean the holder, feed teeth and hook race with the brush and dry cloth as shown on printed page 38. Remove trapped loose thread. Do not add oil, cleaner or solvent as a substitute for the specified procedure.
Align the holder before sewing
Line up the triangle marks and position the holder notch beside the stopper shown in the manual. Refit the bobbin, plate, foot and needle. If the holder will not sit as illustrated, stop rather than forcing it down.
A damaged bobbin can prevent smooth turning. Use the documented 102261103 replacement family for the HD-3000; damage to the surrounding holder needs a separate part assessment.
