Copy the model from the machine body or identification label, including letters and suffixes. A name such as Heavy Duty describes a range; 4423 identifies a particular Singer machine.
Photograph the complete label and the front of the machine. If you need to move or tilt it to see a label, unplug it first and protect the needle area.
Separate three kinds of identifier
The model describes the machine design. The serial number identifies your individual machine. A part reference identifies an accessory: SA156 is a Brother bobbin, while CS7000X is a machine. Keep both fields when asking a dealer for help.
| Brand | Machine | Bobbin reference |
|---|---|---|
| Singer | Heavy Duty 4423 | Class 15 transparent |
| Brother | CS7000X | SA156 |
| Janome | HD-3000 | 102261103 |
Use the manual for that model
Find the manufacturer’s manual using the full model. Compare the controls and bobbin-loading illustration with your machine before following its steps. A manual for another machine in the range can give the wrong thread path or attachment instructions.
When the label is missing
Keep clear photographs of the body, controls, bobbin area and any surviving plate. Send them to manufacturer support or an authorised dealer. A similar silhouette is not enough to select a bobbin case or an electrical controller.
